'these boots weren't made for walking' won "best of show" at the grand iowa state fair! oh my goodness! :) what an honor! i was so surprised to see that big purple ribbon hanging next to my piece! and it sold too! which is great!
my work is a bit of a diversion from the work that has been winning the at the fair for the last few years. i was expecting a barn or a landscape, or something airbrushed to win. realism has generally taken best of show in the past. maybe the tides are turning. :) my husband won "best of show" 12 years ago. we wondered if a husband
and wife had ever both won that award before... ?? i wonder how
difficult it would be to find that out...
anyhow! we had a great time on our trip... we all came home exhausted! i need a vacation from my vacation! it's a lot of work traveling and camping with four little guys! our house looks like a tornado has ripped through it! and that's not good. i thrive on organization... so i have a lot of cleaning to do. and... to add to the mayhem, we are moving to a little house in the country this week. the kids will have a big yard and i will have a finished two car garage... i mean, a studio. :) yay! no more all-night painting in the dining room! a real studio space... (sigh) wonderful. i've got several commissions lined up, three shows in september and a duo show with my husband, matt, at william penn university in oskaloosa, iowa in october that i have to prepare for... a studio space is coming just in time! (actually, a bit late, but that's okay) :)
